DetailsCreation-legends of Brahmanas of Yajurveda referred to ‘Prajpati’ as the source of creation. According to Indian philosophy, ‘Panchamahabhuta’ also known as the five great elements is the basis of all cosmic creation. Still, it is noteworthy that many passages in Brahmanas of Yajurveda refer to the presence of Prajapati i.e. supreme power at the evolution of the universe. There are references to how with the help of water Prajapati first created Agni, how with the help of words Prithvi, Aakash formed i.e. the process of evolution starts with words of Prajapati; when he spoke ‘bhuh’ the earth was created when he whispered ‘bhuvah’ and so was born the air and when he uttered ‘svah’ and so was formed the sky. As these three words consisted of five syllables, thus five seasons were incarnated. In this way, we find Vak next to Prajapati at the time of creation. Also, Prajapati while creating the universe himself took the help of some of the natural powers. Hence, the references found in Brahmanas of Yajurveda give a sense of mystery in the sequences of cosmic regeneration.
